The Ooh Lala 2022 Wild Collection from Grapat Wooden Toys

Happy new year all! I’ve been a ghost for some months and I apologize. Between falling sick (not covid) and end of year happenings (my best friend visited from Sweden!), I was not being a good writer.

Let’s kick off 2022 with a bang! Joguines Grapat, the Spanish company known for their loose parts wooden toys known as mandalas, announced their collection earlier today.

If you have been following along on Instagram, they have been hyping the “wild” campaign for a few weeks. Some people were getting tired, some were worried the new line would be underwhelming, and some folks never wanted to see a box full of dried lavender again.

Here is the new line. I think there is some creativity in it, especially branching out of the traditional mandalas and peoples (they are there of course).

I would love to work for them and their design team. Their photos are full of eye candy.

Wonders collection
Wild collection – they look like bugs
The superheros – ooh-lala!, wow!, yay!, and hooray.
Flower petals – unsure of the size of the petal and how many come in a box.
Natural mandalas
Rainbow mushrooms
Tulips

I love the new tulip mandalas. They don’t look like certain objects one may find in a certain type of stores restricted to adults. And they have a lovely cheery yellow color.

The rainbow mushrooms fall in line with a giveaway they did last year that included them. Also, it continues the rainbow eggs from 2021. The natural mandalas, there are going to be a lot of fans for that. I can see many people making amazing flat lay mandalas with them.

What do you think? Was the hype worth it? Would you buy anything? Pricing isn’t out yet, it will be interesting to see what they are this considering the materials shortages and other supply side restrictions.
